Buck Converter (Step-Down)

The Buck Converter, also known as a Step-Down Converter, is a fundamental electronic circuit utilized to decrease the output voltage to a level lower than the input voltage. It serves as an efficient voltage regulator, ensuring a stable and constant output voltage, even when the input voltage or load conditions fluctuate.

Unlike the Boost Converter (Step-Up), which increases voltage while decreasing current, the Buck Converter performs the opposite operation. By utilizing a switch and an inductor, it stores energy during the ON period and delivers it to the load during the OFF period, resulting in a reduced output voltage and increased output current. This makes the Buck Converter an essential component in various applications where lower voltage levels are needed.
